Services for children
Our Philosophy - We believe that children strive toward health. With effective guidance we can help them to reach their fullest potential.
Individual Therapy – In one on one settings young people can find tailored support for their needs. Therapy may target issues such as anxiety, depression, grief, social interaction, or issues surrounding an autism spectrum diagnosis.
If you are wondering whether we could work effectively with your child, please call at 215-592-1333. One of us will be able to help you directly or to make a helpful referral.
Specialized Treatment Groups: Our group work with children reflects our belief that teaching children the skills needed for living cooperatively with others is an important investment in our future. These groups are offered weekly for youth ages 3-18. All groups are led by experienced, graduate level professionals and focus on increasing overall socio-emotional and developmental functioning using developmentally appropriate games and activities. Our treatment groups are ongoing, including throughout the summer.
Play Development Program- Early social development in children is established and developed through play. This program strives to nurture children’s social and emotional well-being through play skill development. This includes expansion of play themes, social language used during play and interactive skills such as trading, sharing and taking turns. These skills are developed to increase emotional awareness in both individual and group settings. Goals of this program include:
- Increased flexibility in play
- Emotional self regulation during conflicts
- Development of effective self-advocacy
- Increased interest in social interactions through positive social experiences
Social-Emotional Development for Elementary Ages- As social interactions become increasingly complex many children struggle to understand the intricacies involved in decoding them. Development of social skills can decrease anxiety and increase self-esteem as well as improve emotional development. Targeted skills include:
- Understanding the perspectives of others
- Navigating social interactions at school
- Developing game playing skills including coping with losing at games
- Self advocacy to increase self esteem
